Summary

Enacted in 2023, pursuant to authority provided by Congress in the federal Aroostook Band of Micmacs Settlement Act of 1991, this state statute codifies a jurisdictional agreement that was negotiated between the Mi'kmaq Nation and the State of Maine. It provides that the Mi'kmaq Nation has the same jurisdictional rights and benefits as the Passamaquoddy Tribe and the Penobscot Nation. Title 30, Chapter 603.
